Medical Service Support

Medical Services for the Disadvantaged, including Migrant Workers

  • Program purpose : To provide medical services to the disadvantaged who are unable to receive medical benefits, such as migrant workers, refugees, and the homeless
  • Eligible applicant : Children and spouses (foreign nationals) of migrant workers, marriage migrants who have not yet obtained Korean citizenship and their children, children of the homeless, refugees, etc. who are unable to receive medical benefits from various medical security systems such as health insurance and medical care.
  • Ineligible applicants
    • A foreign national staying in Korea for more than 90 days who are entitled to receive benefits of medical security systems such as health insurance and medical care.
    • An applicant who refuses to undergo the personal identification procedure
    • Individual who has not stayed in Korea for longer than 90 days and has no doctor's diagnosis demonstrating that he/she developed the illness in Korea
    • Individual with no verifiable working fact who is subject to compensation through the industrial accident insurance
    • Individual who sustains injury by inflicting harm to others through traffic accident or battery
  • Amount of support : No annual restriction in the amount of support for medical costs (provided that those who receive surgical procedures twice or more with the support provided under this program will be subject to internal review for further benefits)
  • Scope of support
    • Hospitalization and surgical treatment (excluding simple outpatient treatment)
    • Seoul City covers 90% of the medical costs (10% co-payment)
    • Hospitalization costs at tertiary hospitals, medical costs for selective treatment, selective benefits, palliative care, comprehensive nursing and hospitalization costs
    • Treatments not subject to benefits are excluded from the medical support

      ConfirmSupport provided for antepartum examination and outpatient care for children aged less than 18 years / Support provided for outpatient care linked to hospitalization and surgery (Support provided for three follow-up visits of outpatient care. However, only the treatment carried out at the medical institutions subject to the program will be permitted)
